Brief History

From a small institution with a handful of programs to a multi-campus university serving over 15,000 students, Goldenstate College's story is one of resilience, expansion, and unwavering commitment to educational excellence in South Cotabato.

1992

Founding of Goldenstate College

Goldenstate College was established in Koronadal City, South Cotabato with a small but dedicated faculty and fewer than 300 students. The college began with programs in Business and Education.

1997

CHED Recognition & Expansion

The Commission on Higher Education formally recognized GSC's programs. New courses in Information Technology and Health Sciences were added to meet growing regional demand.

2002

Second Campus Opens in Kiamba

To serve coastal communities, GSC opened its second campus in Kiamba, Sarangani Province — marking the beginning of the multi-campus network.

2008

Maasim & Malungon Campuses

Two more campuses opened in Maasim and Malungon, bringing quality higher education to underserved highland and coastal communities of Sarangani.

2012

20th Anniversary & Research Center Launch

Celebrating two decades of service, GSC launched its dedicated Research and Innovation Center and introduced graduate-level programs for the first time.

2016

GSC Little College & Malakas Campuses

Two new specialized campuses opened: GSC Little College, focusing on foundational education, and the Malakas Technical-Vocational Campus.

2020

Digital Transformation Initiative

GSC rapidly adopted blended and online learning platforms in response to the global pandemic, demonstrating institutional resilience and commitment to uninterrupted education.

2024

SDG Hub & International Linkages

GSC launched its SDG Hub, formalizing partnerships with international universities and NGOs to advance the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals across all 7 campuses.
